8 Steps to Righteousness by Faith, #4: Enhancement
The Fourth Beatitude – Favored (Blessed) Are Those Who Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness, for They Shall Be Filled
The Interpretation
When someone "hungers and thirsts for righteousness," according to the Bible (Matthew 5:6), it means they have a deep, passionate desire to live righteously according to God's will. Jesus promises that this longing will be fulfilled, meaning they will be satisfied with a sense of spiritual nourishment and closeness to God. Essentially, their pursuit of righteousness will be rewarded and their desire will be met.
The Relationship to Daniel and Revelation
In Daniel and Revelation, we see examples of individuals and groups who long for righteousness and the fulfillment of God's promises. Their stories demonstrate the deep yearning for a life aligned with God's will and the ultimate fulfillment of that desire.
Living the Grace Today
God's goodness in hearing and answering prayer places you and me under a heavy obligation to express our thanksgiving for the favors bestowed upon us. We should praise God much more than we do. God inhabits praise.
